The daily deaths figure dropped by 330 compared to the same time last week, and by 226 compared to yesterday's total.
The young child was among the 630 patients who died in England's hospitals.
All who lost their lives were aged between seven and 102.
All except 30, aged between 40 and 99, had known underlying health conditions.
Scotland reported 53 new deaths in the 24 hours to Thursday, Wales recorded 35, and Northern Ireland confirmed 10.
Scotland's death toll for the entire pandemic is now 6,322.
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said in today's daily briefing that 183,418 people have now tested positive in Scotland, up from 182,269 the previous day.
The daily test positivity rate is 4.9%, down from 5.1% on the previous 24 hours.
The rise in deaths in Wales brought its daily toll to 4,867.
There were a further 544 cases of coronavirus in Wales, taking the total number of confirmed cases to 194,525.
