The body of a woman has been discovered in the park pond in front of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s Kensington Palace home.
The body was found last Saturday in the Round Pond while Kate and William and their three children were meeting the Queen at Balmoral in Scotland, the Sun reported.
Detectives are still trying to identify the body but the Metropolitan Police confirmed the woman’s death is not believed to be suspicious.
Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank also live at Ivy Cottage on the palace grounds.
However, it is not clear how many members of the royal family were home as police made the grisly discovery.
During the investigation, the body was mistakenly identified as that of artist Endellion Lycett Green, the granddaughter of poet laureate Sir John Betjeman, the Daily Mail reported.
Endellion, 51, who is known to family and friends as Delli, had been missing for a week.
She was found safe and well.
Her brother John Lycett wrote: ‘My sister Endellion is alive, safe and well. Thank you all for the support and love you showed for Delli and her family.
‘Sorry to all of you that, like us, were grieving for the wonder that is Delli.
‘We were told a body was found and was her. It was not, and Delli was found last night.
‘RIP the soul that was found in Kensington Round Pond on Saturday morning.’
A Met spokesman said Endellion’s family was contacted ‘as part of inquiries to establish the identity of the deceased’.
He added: ‘The death is being treated as unexplained at this time, but is not thought to be suspicious. Inquiries are ongoing’
The Round Pond was constructed in 1730 by King George II.
it is the home to the UK’s oldest model yacht club, the Model Yacht Sailing Association, established in 1876.
