LONDON, ENGLAND – JULY 01: Cori Gauff of USA reacts to her victory over Venus Williams of USA on Day One of The Championships – Wimbledon 2019 at All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club on July 1, 2019 in London, England.

It’s all over the news, 15-year old Cory “Coco” Gauff beat her idol Venus Williams 6 – 4, 6 – 4 in their Wimbledon game on Monday to the shock of the world.

Gauff became the youngest player since 1991 to win in the first round of the ladies’ singles after the win.

“I want to be the greatest,” she declared after the game according to CNN, adding “Obviously I’m super shocked. I literally got my dream draw, so I’m just super happy I was able to pull it out today.”

Gauff said her “My goal is to win it (Wimbledon)”.

She continued: “I think people just kind of limit themselves too much,” she added in another part of her press conference. Once you actually get your goal, then it’s like what do you do now? I like to shoot really high. So that way I always have many goals along the road, but that way you have the ultimate goal.”

Speaking about the game, Williams said the “sky was the limit” for Gauff.

“She played so well. Even all the shank balls went in,” Williams continued. “I actually didn’t play well. It was a contrast. She put the ball in the court, which was much better than I did.”

Speaking to BBC after the game, Gauff said: “When we shook hands she told me congratulations and to keep going and good luck. I said ‘thank you for everything you’ve done’ – I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for her.”
