The impact of religion on our country people is undeniably powerful. It should surprise no one that something like this is happening.
The question is: is it right or wrong?
A school in Abuja rejected a corps member who was posted there on the grounds of his religion.
The carefully worded letter, dated April 3rd, 2014, indicated that the corps member was rejected on the basis of his faith, adding that the school “would want him to be able to express himself freely”.
Some have stated that they see nothing wrong as the school is a Christian school and the corps member may have found teaching there uncomfortable. The rejection may be to the guy’s benefit, they say.
Others have said denying someone employment on the basis of their religion is discrimination, and should not be permitted in a sane society.
