INEC Douses Tension As Fire Guts Rivers Office

The Independent National Electoral Commission has doused tension over the fire that gutted a part of its office in Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Obo Effanga, told The Punch in a telephone interview that the fire was as a result of electrical fault.

There were speculations in some quarters that some arsonists set fire on the INEC office in the area. But Effanga said it was nothing to worry about, adding that the situation had been brought under control.
