The state of the African woman’s hair is in crisis and has become impossible to ignore. Damaged hair and non-existent edges plagues the average woman on the continent so on Friday, September 14th, 2018, we hosted 18 healthy hair industry practitioners and enthusiasts at our Healthy Hair Studio, Tresses by K. Vera-Cruz on Adetokunbo Ademola in Victoria Island, Lagos to a conversation addressing the apparent missing education on the African woman’s hair.
The goal of Tresses by K. Vera-Cruz was to activate a raised awareness of healthy hair care practices and attitudes in our society and ensure a scalable and sustainable future for the network of practitioners in the field.
In attendance were Trichologists, Cosmetic Product formulators, Professional hair stylists, Healthy Hair Consultants, bloggers and enthusiasts
The bubbly and exciting atmosphere which could only have come from the shared vision of healthy hair that all participants had, started us off discussing what healthy hair meant to each of us.
We moved on to the welcome wave of more women choosing to wear their hair naturally today and discussed our thoughts on it being movement, a lifestyle or a fad? For those who considered it a movement, we dug a little deeper into what that really meant.
The conversation took on a life of its own thereafter
To join the Healthy Hair Conversation, keep an eye out on our social media and website for upcoming events.
