Speaking on Today Friday, respected journalist Peter Alexander said: ‘Nobody knows exactly what to make of it, but speaking to anybody who knows Melania Trump, and they will tell you that nothing the former model does is accidental.’
‘One interesting note here, even after this controversy erupted..Melania Trump put the jacket back on, just in time for the cameras, when she returned to Washington DC.’
Mrs Trump sparked a firestorm of criticism over the $39 Zara khaki jacket with its daubed slogan which she wore to meet children who had been separated from their parents at a shelter in McAllen, Tx., Thursday.
Her spokesman claimed that the jacket had not been intended to convey a statement, and urged journalists not to read anything into it.
But President Trump issued a contradictory tweet hours later, claiming it was a dig at the media who have recently focused on his wife’s absence from the public eye following kidney surgery, and the state of the Trumps marriage.
He tweeted: ‘“I REALLY DON’T CARE, DO U?” written on the back of Melania’s jacket, refers to the Fake News Media.
‘Melania has learned how dishonest they are, and she truly no longer cares!’
Many critics have also highlighted the Trump family’s obsession with their image, saying that it was highly unlikely the First Lady would have put on the coat without realizing the reaction it was likely to provoke.
