Lagos State Government Demolishes 21 Structures

The Lagos State Government yesterday demolished no fewer than 21 buildings allegedly erected illegally on government’s land in Ogudu axis, to restore original master plan of the community.

Property on the parcel of land, 7.6 hectares, at Abule Shoko area, Ogudu, were demolished by the Lagos State Building Control Agency, LASBCA, to develop mass housing.

It was gathered that LASBCA officials stormed the slummy area at the early hours of yesterday and commenced demolition, forcing residents to struggle to save their property. It was gathered that the state government had over a year ago, issued quit notices to the occupants and that another notice was served to the owners four months ago before yesterday’s demolition exercise.

General Manager, LASBCA, Lekan Shodeinde, said government planned to use the land for mass housing development, noting that the affected buildings had been marked for demolition a year ago.
