Telecommunications company, Airtel and music channel, TRACE have teamed up to launch what could become the biggest music competition in Africa, by allowing contestants to audition right from their phones for a chance to become the next big music star.
With 13 different countries participating, including Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana and Uganda, you don’t need to stand in long queues waiting for auditions, simply call from your mobile phone, sing and get a chance to win. Prizes include cash, a trip to the United States to be mentored by Akon, a record deal with Universal, and lots more.
The competition will see a winner emerge from each participating country with a big cash prize and access to the Grand Finale where each country’s winner will attend a televised Pan-African Grand Final where they will stand a chance to win a trip to the USA to be mentored by Akon, a professional music video and a record deal with Universal Music.
Voting will be open to the public who will choose the winner together with the TRACE judges. The competition has an official website and you can follow updates about the upcoming competition in your country via their Facebook and Twitter pages.
