23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams has doubled down on her claim that double standard exists in tennis.
Serena said this in an interview with Australian television program, “The Project” – her first tennis-focused interview since her US Open final loss to Naomi Osaka.
She had complained to the umpire Carlos Ramos in the match after she was given a warning for receiving coaching, a claim she has consistently denied although her coach Patrick Mouratoglou has come out to say he was indeed coaching her.
Speaking on “The Project,” Serena said: “I don’t understand what he was talking about. We’ve never had signals.”
She also commented on what she’s termed double standard in the game, saying: “I just don’t understand. If you’re female you should be able to do even half of what a guy can do.”
